Of course gold ones are great we had a half-sovereign but in those days my parents could not afford to keep it.

Good afternoon
Thanks for the reminder. We collect coins too. I have a reference guide that keeps up with the net worth of rare coins. We have a few that are worth some money, but John prefers to hang onto them in case we need them for hard times. We also have his old baseball cards from the 70s. Have a great day and may you find wealth in your coins.

They've since been uprooted, but as an employee in the City Clerk's office part of my job was operating the sorting machine and putting coins in wrappers, a roll of dimes, quarters, nickels, even pennies. The supervisor of streets and alleys was a collector and he asked me to be on the lookout for certain coins, such as liberty head dimes, old copper pennies, etc. I found a German mark minted in 1942 among the coins. Someone had used it as a nickel to buy time on the meter. So I put in a nickel and put the foreign coin in my pocket. Later it occurred to me that 1942 was during WWII when Hitler was raising hell all over Europe. ...
