Good afternoon
That's a real shame that a person cannot locate affordable housing. Maybe you could get a roommate with similar interests to help with the high cost of living. We have plenty of affordable rentals in my area, but not everyone is a fan of western Pennsylvania. Living directly in Pittsburgh is expensive, but our outskirts offer affordable apartments and houses. The average rent in my area runs between $500.00 and $900.00 per month. Good luck to you with your search.

was reading in my Australian news feed last night people are living in their cars or the streets because they can't afford how much rent costs now. One man is paying his rent and is left with $30.00 a week. had to give up internet phone and TV. no heating or cooling and living on breakfast cereal.

There are always things about apartment renting that are especially troublesome. The main one here is that after office workers go home people from outside the facility drive in and dump their trash here in or beside the dumpsters and no one can seem to stop that. I live within view of one of the dumpsters across the way and I often see them driving in unloading and driving off. Once in a while after dark I even see dumpster divers.

Re: Re: Good Morning
Annicita, that is a lot of money for a small 1 bedroom apartment with 1 bath. I'm surprised your city allows them to get away with only one dumpster for a complex of 300. That could lead to all kinds of problems. In my opinion, they should just replace your stove with a new one. It's too bad you don't have a decent leasing agent. I wish you luck in the search for a new home.

Re: Good Morning
My rent for a 1b/1b for less than 700sq is 1352. The pool is supposed to be open year round but it isn't. No recycling since hurricane Ian and the trash is always all over the ground because they refuse to get two dumpsters for a complex that has 300. There's also the incident with my stove. They still refuse to replace it. I have to use other items like a coffee maker for hot water, crockpot for soups etc and quesadilla maker for hot sandwiches or quesadillas.
They repair things with bandaids when they need surgery. The leasing agent only knows your name when you are a pending resident. Once you sign the lease she acts like she doesn't know you.

I hope you find a place you like in a friendly neighborhood. I once
considered renting a 2-bedroom place with each bedroom having its own bathroom, and a powder room for visitors. The intent was to get a roommate to split the rent and share the space - a kind of "Golden Girls" situation. But then I found this little house at a fair price (nearly 20 years ago) and that was that.

Good Morning
Annicita, I know rent in our area is high too. People pay anywhere from $1,600 - $1,800 for a nice two-bedroom apartment. I think that's crazy and the minute people are a few days late on their rent they file eviction papers. I'm not sure how anyone can pay prices like that because they still have utilities, food, insurance, car payments, and the list goes on and on. I hope you can find something decent in your price range. Why are you leaving the apartment you are in now? I've read articles about people renting mobile homes but I'm not sure that would be affordable in this market.
