I prefer the name Hup to Lacroix (not at all influenced by knowing someone with the name Lacroix
). I enjoy stories of our ancestors - keep it coming!

Re: Kabu
About whether or not the First Nations woman was happy living with a white man, I hope so. Don't know if there was equality between spouses among her people, but in the USA women couldn't vote, own property, etc. at that time.

Good afternoon
It seems that's all that any of our immigrant ancestors wanted; a better life. So it would appear that you have a percentage of French blood running through your veins. C'est bien!

I have a few too I think I have probably posted some time. I loved this story though and why wouldn't back then someone hop the boarder into the USA and away from French and English eyes. Would love more. What about his wife, was she happy living with a white man?
