In a way it did seem he was branding everyone with the same brush. Although I
know one must not be too easy going. I always used the same system when anyone
wanted to borrow money from me, although I wondered why they thought I had so
much. I always gave the borrower a reduced sum and told them that they need
not pay it back. Of course they wanted tenfold, but as I gently told them if others did
the same they would not accumulate another debt.

Good Afternoon
Pat, it would have been interesting to know what happened to Max and his wife. I think we all have different ways of looking at the world. When my grandparents had their farm they lived far away from the city but when night came and someone came to the door they yelled through the door to leave if they didn't know them. They had a gun in their hand just in case the person didn't leave. Trust was an issue then too.

Good morning
I have to agree with Max a bit where loaning money to relatives and trust is concerned. John and I have been burned more times then I can count by close family members. It's great that he left his money to place that can help others for years to come.

My husband's Aunt and Uncle farmed outside of Higginsville about 50 miles from here. There was one of those old sidings along one side of their property. For about a year there was an old, old train of about four cars and a caboose left their. My boys loved to play on them when we visited. Actually, I thought they were fascinating.
