Yes, that is so wearing on the nerves! Sometimes, even often, I fall back on impulse to end the doubts and fears and prevarication. Most of the time it isn't as if it matters so much anyway.
One of the things I've realized is that whatever one chooses, that becomes the best choice. We can imagine, but never be sure where a different choice might have led, that it would have been better. All we can know is that it would have been different.

What I really hate is when one is faced with two decisions and one keeps jumping
from one to the other. I am sure you have chosen the right ones most of the time.
