I can't imagine doing that. My mom did. They were itinerant pickers.

I alway liked that one sung by Nat King Cole--It's on his list of all-time great 36 songs.

For several years Dad sowed a patch of field peas to harvest and add them as a supplement to the sheep's diet. When they were ripe to eat I would collect a pan full for supper but i also ate as many as i collected. One could sit in one spot and not have to move they were so thick and they grew larger than fieldd peas usually do.

Good Afternoon
Pat, my uncle had grape vines and I would pick the grapes. He made wine. It was a hobby of his. I never liked the spiders that would crawl around the vines when I was trying to pick the grapes.

I know how the loss of sense acuity can mess one up: Everything changed to the more frustrating and agravating when I had the cataract surgery. I've stopped doing things that require clear vision, or back and forth changes of glasses for the right distance/closeness clarity.
It was raspberries I picked, and not for very long one summer. I'll have to tell that story one of these days!

Good morning
I love strawberries. I used to pick them for my mother so that she could can them. Your strawberry memories are a bit more interesting with a hard days work, great conversation, and some hit tunes. This sounds like a really productive and memorable day to me. I remember stepdad #3 playing the Glo Worm song which was a hit in 1952. https://youtu.be/2zOoAPn3OjQ
