Re: Pat
Pat I know two families that took in emigrants and different life styles did not work
out also Government money was slow in compensation. It really needs a new country
moderate temperatures and free housing. Here inflation is rising and soon many will
not be able to rent.

Re: Kabu
Things are never what one hopes for, some of my relations emigrated to Australia,
I think the father thought he could shoot rabbits.

Yes it is only a small village, sometimes one wonders how it will end.

Re: Sea Gypsy
Sadly we have not the capacity to keep taking boat loads full each day, although one can guess how dire prospects are elswhere.

Good morning
I cannot begin to imagine what those poor immigrants go through during their journey to what they hope is happiness in a land where they will be free. Sadly, many of them become homeless. This makes me think about the thousands of abandoned homes all around our big world. The government is good about wasting money, so why not house the immigrants and get them jobs so that they can again be productive citizens.

They have been housing the homeless in hotels here in hotels for at least two years. It may be a different situation there. It's all different now from when my ancestors emigrated to the US. Sad for all.

I wonder how long it takes a refugee who has battled the world to get to safety, to begin to feel safe. Maybe they never do.

I hope that hotel plan is good for all involved and doesn't turn into a problem for either the ones moving in or for those in the neighborhood.

Immigration is getting more and more difficult, and the paper work longer and terribly personal. Then I remember how English people were encouraged to migrate to Australia from after WW11 for many years. Almost free passage. Just 10 pounds and a sea voyage half way across the World ...to arrive and have there passport taken from them for 2 years. To be put into tin sheds to eat and sleep until they found work; stinking hot all Summer.

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to emigrate from a place, even
if it is difficult there. Seems to me the issues people face crossing borders and getting paperwork, settling in and finding jobs, housing, education, etc., are so much more awful when they get where they are going. It would be amazing if people could accept their neighbors and those from other places, other cultures and etc., and practice live-and-let-live. Wouldn't peace on earth make it easier for everyone?
