I don't go socializing much at all. Jim and I go to the theater some times and out to an early dinner and home is all. The only female friend here is my next door neighbor. A retired colored person who is lovely. We don't see each other often because she baby sits a little granddaughter [who yells Ganma] every time she sees me.

You would not believe what it was like to be a member of a church that had never had a black member and your white son brought his black fiance to church that she wants to join and be married in. You would not believe what people came up to me and said or asked. It was an interesting couple of months before the wedding.

Perhaps for older folk a memory of two wars makes on focus on one's past enemies.
The truth is there is no good people all the time.

Good morning
I will never completely understand racism as other ethnic groups have so much culture to share if we would only take the time to listen, learn, and appreciate. I'm with you in thinking that one day we can all get along. Step-dad #3 served in WWII and was racist against the Japanese and Filipinos. He had plenty of clever names for them as he recalled horror stories from his time over in that area while serving in the Navy. July 2 is my step-dad # 4's birthday.

I see a lot more diversity. I see more interracial and interethnic marriages everyday.
