The birds do seem very scarce at this time. We are suffering from bird flue, I expect it is brought in by migratory birds, all poultry has to be kept under cover . Shortage of eggs means we shall have to import .

What a great idea having a grandparent's day! That doesn't happen around here anymore. Our birds answer us here too, and some will stay at the feeder even as we stand right next to it.

Good afternoon

It has rained here all day nearly non-stop. Its warm, but dismal. We gave up on shopping and are settling in to finish up our series that we have been watching. I made John fully loaded nachos today and I had a breakfast bowl with toast. Rigatoni sounds really good with a side salad or with some garlic bread. Birds are amazing that way with their chirping. I believe that they watch us humans filling their feeders and understand that we are friends and not foes. Grandparents day sounds like a fun day for you guys. Stay warm!

My Mom and one of my sisters immitated quite a few different birds with their whistles and if the bird heard its they whistled back to them.  I was never any good at whistling sounds.

Re:

Taps, I never realized that birds could carry on conversations in their own way.  It is so cool!

Grandparents day was a lot of fun when I was in late elementary and early middle school, another great way in which to hang out with the elders.

My Dad made little wren houses that he put in his back yard.  When he was out in his back yard he would whistle their tune and they would come out of the little door hole and sing to him.  It was like they were having a conversation.  It was so fun to watch.
