About those couples sleeping in single beds - that was because the blue-nosed censors insisted on that. Who knows what chaos might have resulted if anyone ever got the slightest hint about sex between Ozzie and Harriet... (even though they were actually married in real life).

Uppity in the laundromat takes the cake. My mom wore a housedress with an apron tied round her waist. Flat shoes - no jewels but a thin gold wedding band. In my mind a laundromat is a great equalizer and there was a time we were there also. It's good you wanted the best schools you could find for your and lived in the areas that had them. And no, there is now no place exempt from crime. No exception here.

I have never been a lace collar and pearls girl, but i loved the American way of the parents always sleeping in single beds in those movies and sidcoms. being a kid on the farm, Boarding school was a huge shock to me. The meal time manners almost did me in.

Good morning
They were only uppity by their appearance and apparently not by their bank accounts if they were also doing the family laundry via the laundromat. You would think that they would have had the newest streamline washers of the day. As for the shootings, we are at our highest in my neck of the woods than we have ever been with people being killed by guns. Pittsburgh has seen 700 homicides since 2010. Just yesterday, there was a shooting in front of Lowe's in Belle Vernon which is considered a safe neighborhood. It's becoming dangerous to go out in public anywhere these days.
