Our small town was not quite Salkum but there was a "downtown" area and a coffee shop, a shoe store and a dime store. Life was good. Simple but good. Of course, I was just a wee thing. Thanks for the memories. Really nice.

That sounds so similiar to many of Australia's small towns when I was growing up. Many of them survived because they were railway towns and most are dead or almost dead these days. people would rather go 20 miles to big towns like wagga Wagga where my Son lives than to small local places.

Good Afternoon
Pat, I must say you had a long ride to school every day. By the time you got home from school in the afternoon, you must have been tired. I've always lived close to my school and when I was going to grade school we would walk to school and back home again.
