No reader unit on my mouse, either. I thought these things were for
the camera on a cell phone. They even pop up on ads on my TV. Not gonna bother trying this kind of barcode, though. I've got more than enough of a challenge in all the other tech that is available to me.

fantastic post. I looked on the side of my mouse and nothing I can see anywhere either. Like you though, I am not really shopping anymore.
