FSI, I love chili on cold days.  It does warm the soul.

Re:

adnohr, thanks for all the tips on good food.  I'm going to start eating more spinach and beans.  The cream my doctor prescribed for me is working wonders.  I'm very thankful for that.

It's that time of the year when chilli warms up the soul.

I really like beans - all kinds, black, white, baked, in salads - and they are a good source of iron. Spinach lasagna or manicotti is great too, and another source of iron. Have been taking Vitamin B-12 complexemfrom Sisu (Amazon) for years and find it really makes a difference, especially in the cold weather, for some reason.  I hope that cream works for your knee.

Re:

Kabu, I know that there is iron in broccoli but is there iron in baked beans?  I'm going to try to eat iron-fortified foods like my doctor said because I'm getting very tired of being tired all the time.

Re: Re: Re:

Sea Gypsy, I've had pneumonia and that was really bad.  It's why I always make sure I get the pneumonia vaccine.  I think soon I will need the tetanus shot.  Thankfully the doctor gave me my flu shot.  I'm a firm believer in vaccines because I don't want to get sick.

You and I are experiencing the same problem. Low on Iron. I don't eat much meat because I find it really difficult to digest but I love brocolli and will eat a plate full with cheese melted over it. I also eat lots of baked beans still I need the iron which just seems to have made me more tired at present. we will have to encourage each other to increase our iron levels.

Re: Re:

I had it - or I think I had it - really bad about 10 or 11 years ago. It was horrible. I thought I had TB. I got the vaccine later when I was well. I have had two different pneumonia vaccines but this one I think I'm due to get. You reminded me when you mentioned the pneumonia vaccine. Well, I had been thinking about it because I need the tetanus also. Got you the flu shot. The Covid one is probably next.

Re:

Sea Gypsy, I didn't think of the Whooping Cough vaccine.  What made you think of it?

Oh, I'm sorry you are low on iron. I'm not a huge red meat-eater myself. I used the Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks to supplement my iron when it was low and took the sub-lingual B-12. That did the trick. Sorta. My B-12 was low, also. Hard to find a balance. Hope the cream works and that you feel better. As for vaccines, the Type A Flu is the one this year, I heard. That's a bad one. We got ours but I think I need a Whooping Cough vaccine now.

Re: You're the second person on Blogit whose blood seems low on iron. I

Pat, thanks for the tips.  I never thought about bananas.  I'm going to get some!  I did buy spinach so I'm going to try to eat more vegetables.

Re: Good afternoon

Sherri, I hope you have fun!  Enjoy the beautiful Autumn colors along the way!

You're the second person on Blogit whose blood seems low on iron. I

wonder if it's something in our diet. I recommend more iron-rich greens: spinach, broccoli, smoothies made with raw spinach and blackberries and bananas - it's not all bad.

Good afternoon

I have a pot of chili simmering away. We are going to eat and then head out for Warrendale to listen to 80s music. We are planning on taking the back roads to see the Autumn foliage. It is warm and windy here to day. Enjoy your day!

Re:

Ciel, I wait for the heat to go away, and then when it does I'm cold.  I do prefer winter over summer though.

Cooler days are coming in here, too. Two months ago, I could hardly wait for this weather! Chili for chilly... good plan!
