We would see mama and baby bears quite often. This particular female would frequently have triplets, but this was the first time I ever saw her with four babies. It was also nice to see her rolling around on the ground with them as they played.
She knew me and wasn't afraid of me, but that didn't mean I was going to go up and pet her kids. I tried to give the creatures of the forest as much respect as I could so I could see them. If you mess with wild animals, one of two things will happen - You will never see them or they will kill you if they feel they need to attack. I saw a lot of wolves, bears, eagles, and moose simply because I was as quiet and respectful as I could be. They knew me and knew I wasn't there to bother them.
