- Go to SUMMER IN SALKUM, CIRCA 1950
There was always something to do back in those days, mostly outside but on rainy days we always found something interesting to do also. Loved life in those days and now love remembering it.

Such a different summer experience to where I was in Australia. Sometimes we couldn't go to the beach to swim because it was 110F in the shade. Way too hot.

You must have had great times there in the summers. Sounds so pleasant. Abd yes, I understand those old tree logs fished out from the water are now worth a bundle! Very desirable woid, they say.

Good Morning
Pat, what wonderful summers you had in Salkum. I can just imagine getting used to the cold water before going swimming. It doesn't take long for corn to cook so I know the corn was sweet and delicious. I would have been a little worried about the bears but fortunately, you knew to look out for them. It all sounds like so much fun. You didn't have to worry about the dangers of the city.

Good morning
Kids today don't have a clue as to how much fun childhood was back in the day. Outdoor activities like playing baseball with the neighbor kids was big in my neighborhood. This resonated with me as I did many of the same things as a kid growing up in Oregon, except for the campfires with baking potatoes and corn. That would have been a blast. Dad #4 was a Sawyer who retired from Weyerhauser back in the 80s. Thanks for sharing your stories. They are highly interesting and entertaining. Have a wonderful day!
