I remember that they even confined them to their homes until the baby was born.

Your Mother Rose must have been a very special Rose indeed for she had all those babies and must have worked hard to bring you all up to be such wonderful people yourselves. we miss our mothers so much don't we. Mine was born in 1909 which people now feel was so long ago.

Re: CCT

My Mom & Dad were very hard workers.  The only time they weren't working was when they went to church.  We were not the poorest of the poor, but we did not have a lot of fooferaw either.

Yes it was a tough life Taps. I always wonder how mothers managed to rear so many children the food needed to nourish etc. Of course your mother is still in your thoughts sometimes like yesterday.

Your mother raised a wonderful daughter. It  just so happens that yesterday would've been my maternal grandfather's 101st birthday. He died in 1980.

Re: Good morning

My Mom always believed she had Gypsy blood in her family history.  There were many Gypsy bands that passed through the part of Bohemia where her family lived before they came to America.  Mom also loved the song "Rambling Rose" and often refered to herself in that way.

Good morning

I forgot to add that my granddaughter's name is Chloe Rose, and our fur baby granddaughter is Gypsy Rose. It really is such a pretty name.

I love the mythology wrapped around the family story...

And Rose is one of my favorite names - my younger sister Rosalee has always been Rose to me. Thank you for this warm memory.
