I love to watch the birds. I think of Mom every time I see a cardinal.

My hummingbirds are gone too. It makes me sad to see them leave - they are my favorite part of summer. Karen has brought most of the plants inside too because of frost warnings here now. I'm particular about the ones she leaves up here, because many plants are harmful for aniimals. She has many more downstairs in her apartment when the beasts and bird don't go.

Re:

Kabu, I've told them that they are going home next week.  They miss you and I think they are getting homesick but they are sad to be leaving here too.  When my little Terrence found out he cried for almost an hour.  I told everybody that they could come back to visit again.  Our house will seem so quiet when everyone leaves for home.

C_C_T, taking care of plants at the end of the season is always hard.

Pat, we don't have a lot of sunlight either so for most of the plants we put them under the light.  They seem to be happy with that.  I think your 100-year-old house must be beautiful.  They don't make houses like that anymore.

Re:

FSI, I think you are right.  It's amazing how fast things changed.

Re:

Sherri, our Christmas cactus is beautiful.  It only blooms at Christmas.  They have pink flowers.

Re: Good afternoon

Sherri, I hope you get your plants sprayed before you bring them in.  If it's going to be cold here on Friday then I'm sure it's coming your way.

Well Archie will have to deal with 200 Dahlias very soon. I am glad I opted out of that chore.

My little house is just over 100 years old, craftsman style, with

dark woodwork, dark hardwood floors, and the windows are small compared to modern ones. House plants do not thrive in this low light, even in the long bright days of summer. But I have a few flowering plants outside along the foundation.

I have never heard of a Christmas cactus. I bet that it's pretty. I also have plants that have a favorite location. My basil likes full sun. The ferns prefer indirect sun.

Good afternoon

Thanks for the head's up. I will have to bring in my ferns and my basil plant before Friday. I've had those ferns for almost ten years. I forgot to spray them last year and we had moths in the house.
