I love just about any kind of fresh veggies cut up and roasted in a hot oven with EVOO and a bit of salt.   Although I must admit I've never tried that with cucumbers.

Re:

C_C_T, I wish you could see how good Kabu's gnomes have been.  They have been polite and followed any directions I've given to them.  They listen to Sgt. Mulberry and when they come home from the Metroparks they take a shower and get ready for bed.  They do love their comfy beds.  The gnomes finish their food and never leave any leftovers.  I'm going to miss them when they go home.  We only had one incident when they spiked the punch and they are not going to do that again.

Well Kabu's gnomes should be well behaved once I had to send the Gnome inspector

to inform her that she should not let them keep drinking through the winter, she was

very contrite I am pleased to say and only occasionally let them have an ice lolly.

Roy is a really sweet man. I am making my sauce from what's left of my garden tomatoes. I also have Italian herbs in my raised bed that I will add. Oregano is my favorite.

Re: Re: I make mine with buttermilk too.

You can make homemade buttermilk by adding  1/2 Tablespoon of white vinegar to 1/2 cup of milk. You will see it curdle.

Re: Good morning

Sherri, I love stuffed shells but I've never made them.  I know your sauce and cheesy garlic bread will be delicious.  Did you finish the cake I sent home with you?  Roy said I was going to make you sick. haha

Re: Buttermilk adds a luxurious touch to recipes, lightening pancakes

Pat, thanks for the tip.  I had no idea.  I'm thinking maybe I should get some buttermilk.

Good morning

Can you blame those gnomes for favoring strawberry bomb cake? They have great taste, and I'm right there with them. Beef stew is a great choice. Even though I miss them, I haven't bought potatoes in a while due to their cost. A 10lb bag is $5.99. Those hoe cakes will be perfect with your stew. We are having stuffed shells with a hearty Italian red sauce and cheesy garlic bread. Before Fall commences next week, I am planning on making John a chef's salad. It is one of his summer favorites.

Buttermilk adds a luxurious touch to recipes, lightening pancakes

and making the texture of biscuits or corn cakes smoother and more luxurious. After you try this recipe and decide to try again, maybe you can compare the results by using buttermilk next time.  Not that I have any stock shares in the buttermilk conglomerate or anything.   Have a great day!
