Re: Pat
Pat we used to listen on our small wireless as it was called to learn how many planes
were lost on each raid< of course a lot was propaganda. When Radar was discovered
it was leaked that aircrews ate carrots to inhance sight.

Well I know he did have an abandoned old army hut to rest in. He did a few jobs for my Great Aunt, she liked to have someone like him around.

Re: Kabu
You are still naughty, and must just have honey to sweeten you.

Re: Taps
She was not the cuddling type there were four sisters and the only time I saw them together was when one came from Canada and they were kicking a leg as they walked.

Re: Taps
Yes she always behaved like a Queen. Most had a deep respect for her.

I am saddened to learn today that you have lost England's Beloved Queen. She was so very special for so very long that this came as a shock to me. As you mourn, please remember that someone at Blogit will be mourning with you.

You've made me want a cup of tea even though it's the middle of the night. I'm up 'cause I can't sleep.

I love your 1940 story. I laughed about the man who didn't cuddle his wife.

Some times a peanut butter and apple jelly sandwich is really all I want.

Sounds like the village took care of Ted, well at least the soft hearts hidden under the bluster did. There are still many Ted's around, and hopefully there will always be the souls who care to give a hand now and then. I enjoy a slice of baked bread with butter and jam, or a warm tea buscuit dripping with butter for a snack.

By a complete coincidence, I am reading a book by Malcolm
Gladwell right now titled "The Bomber Mafia," about the advent of the bombsight and the use of daylight bombing missions during WWII when the U.S. Air Force was known as the Army Air Corps. I was reading about the early discussions between the British and U.S. generals and your prime minister, etc. Your poem about the times of ration books and neighborhood shops and the paraffin trade just keeps my mind on those days. All this gives me a sense that all points and times of the universe are very connected.

Good afternoon
Those family-run mom & pop stores were the best. There are still a few of them in my area, but not many. As for tea time, I mostly enjoy a hot cup of tea in the colder months and raspberry ice tea in the summer.
