That's awesome the way they treated him like family.

Re: Ciel

He did until one day after he was out of the navy he met Patti in the park he had always loved near our home.  After that life for him was Patti and her two children.  Everything else kind of went by the wayside.

Did Marc keep in touch with his 'adoptive' family?

Victoria has a rep for elders. It's said that when they get their first govt check--like our social security--they are likely to spend it on something like sky-diving or scuba lessons than a new comfy chair!

Good morning

What a sweet memory and a really nice thing for families to do. This really is what life should be about, taking care of each other in times of an unexpected emergency.

Victoria and British Columbia are beautiful - there would have been

lots of amazing scenery and architecture if they took him on a tour of the area. I grew up in Washington state which is just across the border from BC, and there are regular ferries running between Seattle and Victoria through the Strait of Juan de Fuca/Puget Sound. I lived in Seattle at various times, but wasn't there in the '80s.

Must have been like a holiday after all the turmoil. Nice to think he had good times.
