He seemed very happy regardless. Maybe that grin was because he thought it was so amusing.

I don't know how I missed this. I loved it. It reminded me of Mrs. Sherman a neigbor three doors down from our house we had just bought and moved in. I was 22 and she was 95. She was deaf but she could sure talk. She loved telling me that their's was the first house on the block and that she had watched all the other houses be built up around her.

What a character and what a lovely neighbor to have really. I was reminded of my First and worst MIL I had to stay with them one time and she was really stinky to me because without a thought I hung my dainties on the line to dry them. She hid hers in a drying cupboard and even then put a towel over them. my poor old FIL, who cares if he thought my panties nicer than her waist to knees nickers.

Good Afternoon
Pat, this was such a nice story about a different time and place. As I was reading this post it felt like I had been transported to a time when life was ordinary and not crazy like it is now. I know there were issues back then but what we've got going on now is off the charts.
