You're absolutely right Sea Sis. The epitaph is in one of the most brilliant language. Isee how perfectly you've pursued literature, not popularly known to many of us. Thank you for your such a pointed observation.

I suppose the mood of the people was quite sombre in those days. One cannot help admiring his technique.

Indeed, an excellent post on a great poet you have shared with us today. His control of language is profound. On this poem, my favorite part is the epitaph. It's just fantastic, at least to me. It flows with such ease. Thank you again. And I agree, it was the mode of the time to write as he did, I think. The spirit of melancholy seemed to lurk, at times anyway.
