I love potato salad! I've been craving it lately. I hate what they carry in the stores premade. They put too much mayo. I live more mustard and some celery for a little crunch.

Good advice from Sis, and it still works. I used that solution in my last job, and the result was a new friend instead of an enemy.

Potato salad that good is always a hit.
That was wise advice to just smile and let it go.

Re: Sherri G
Your add-ins for potato salad are perfect - esp. the dill weed.

Good afternoon
That is a wonderful memory of a great time in your life. My first restaurant job was when I was 15 working in a Japanese restaurant in Klamath Falls, Oregon. I love good kosher potato salad. Along with the usual suspects, I add dill weed, sweet relish, Dijon mustard, and a vinegar/sugar mix to mine. I also love adding hard-boiled eggs to mine.

You really learned a lot of things early didn't you. I was pretty much protected at that age. Other than babysitting, I never had a real job until I was eighteen. At sixteen I was still out playing street baseball with the neighborhood kids, or was reading books.

Re: Goldiec
My sis lived in Salem, OR, which was 100-125 miles from where I lived in the Cascade foothills of western Washington. My summer began with picking strawberries at a commercial farm near our village, and with any luck I'd get the heck outta town for at least a month to visit my auntie or my big sis. Food service jobs were a big bonus, with hourly pay and tips in addition to a change of scene.

Good Morning
Pat, this sounds like a nice memory. Did your sister live far from your home? It's nice for kids to have summer jobs to give them a little extra money for school clothes.
