We actually need more sensible women at our political helm - maybe things would be better there too.

It was the beginning for women to work outside the home but many had to give up their jobs when the War was over as the men needed them..or so women were told. Gradually though women like me crept out of our kitchens and earned our own pay.

World War II was a point in our history where there was a major change. We are still feeling the effects of it to this day.

My sis was doing a "Rosie the Riveter" job at a naval shipyard
when she met her husband, a sailor assigned to one of the drydocked ships that was getting an upgrade. The project lasted a couple of months, they married on the 4th of July after knowing each other for 6 weeks. He shipped out soon after - his ship was assigned to the ocean battles in the Pacific. Their little son, born several months later, didn't meet his daddy until the war was over. They had another son shortly after his return and were married for more than 65 years.
