Yes. Especially Christmas is a time for family. I can imagine his thinking of you all celebrating at home and him a world away.

Christmas especially must have been rather depressing. Home sickness kind of gets in ones mind.

Good afternoon
I would imagine that the holidays would be the hardest when one is far away from home and those that he loves the most. The military is brutal when it comes to family time, of that I once had to learn myself.
