My maiden name was Sanders and my Dad was certain that there was a coat of arms in the family history according to his dad. Sanders is an Irish name so it probably would be an Irish coat of arms. "Oh Danny Boy" was his favorite song (Londonderry Aire).

Good morning
I love this. Learning new words is really intriguing. I am guessing from your poem that the mentioned Scottish family is not registered with the Court of the Lord Lyon. I also see another meaning for the word that describes one as having no coat of arms. I have a wee bit of Scottish in me too, but I have learned after researching my ancestry that not all surnames have a crest or a coat of arms. My Steele & Lowman surnames both do. Yay!
