The main thing is finding a place that you feel at home in. I don't know about U.S.A

but here folk hardly know their neighbors. I suppose work and television etc.

obliterates the need for social contact. I know about the stairs, my brother says don't

get a stair-lift once you give in. Well I just holler as I go up and down.

Good Afternoon

Pat, we have a bungalow and I love it.  In our last house, we had a basement but I'm thankful this house does not have one.  I do miss it during storms but that's about it.  We would probably have so many things in the basement we wouldn't be able to move down there.  My children would use it for a storage area and never come back for anything.  All of our main living areas are on one floor and it's perfect for us.  I love having the laundry room close.  There's one step coming in the house and going out of the house but I still managed to twist my leg.  It was strictly my fault though.  I've learned that I just can't carry a handful of items in my hands and walk too.  Good Luck finding the perfect place to live.

It us wise to choose to move, though not easy. We downsized to a smallee one-story house and it took a lot of throwing things away or donating them in order to fit. I found we can live without many things.

Pretty similar to my situation.  I have eight steps up to my place or if I go in and out the back way it is 12 steps.  Because I had such trouble carrying up groceries or such, I have gone to letting Son Stephen do my grocery shopping or delivery.  Also, I have problems feeling comfortable about shower tub.  I take it one day at a time.  My lease goes until May 2023.

Good morning

I hope that you find the perfect living situation. The fear of falling rates high for me. Stairs are the worst for anyone who has mobility issues. I have fallen down more than I'd like to admit. John and I also avoid them and would much prefer a home without a second floor. It's just smart. We have been house hunting for a few years, but Pittsburgh is famous for old two-story homes. Good luck to you on your journey for the perfect living situation.
