Re: adnohr
I suppose no one mention tips on the tax return. Trouble is folk change it might not happen straight away, but a lot is judged on youthful mannerisms.

In this province the government began taxing a certain percentage of bills as tips whether the waiter received it or not, so now, in most places, that amount is automatically included in the total. Love sure is a mixed bag of 'chemicals'. Humans are pretty complicated; it's difficult to find that exact mix, I'm thinking. The poem says it well.

Re: Re: Good afternoon
That better have been one delicious sandwich for that price. Of course, wine can be a bit pricey.

Re: Good afternoon Sherri
I suppose it is a job to keep up with price prices. My sister was saying they only went into a pub for sandwichs and a glass of wine and one of water. £40 .

Re: Sherri
Yes indeed, sadly there does not seem to be a lot of it about.

Trouble is we are only human Pat. Yes it is cooler but another heat wave is forecast.
I have never known or hardly ever of fires breaking out near housing.

Re: Sea Gypsy
I think the lardies would be a bit too fatty for the diet conscious these days.
I cannot think how they were sold for a penny, but then there was a half-penny and
even a farthing sometimes a packet of pins were given instead of a farthing.

I'll make sure I give your table a miss Kabu. We used to put sixpence under the plate.

It's a good thing I don't go out very often because I always tip well. If I did it all that often, I'd be in the poor house for tipping.

I am a poor tipper because tipping isn't really what you do in Australia unless you are in an expensive restuarant.people get paid much closer to fair pay fpr a fair job done and don't expect to have to make most of their wages from tips.I like that. I also like how tax is already added into the price of whatever you are buying. The price you pay includes the tax. easy to see then if you can afford the goods or not!

Inflation is a pain and the world doesn't have to work that way, yet it does. It was interesting to hear about the lardies. They must be a little like scones. I enjoyed your poem. There is a big difference between romance and love sometimes, it seems.

Reaching an understanding while keeping the romance just a bit
mysterious and fascinating isn't always easy (or at times even possible). I do enjoy the wistfulness in your poetry, the hopeful reflection and the sense that complete satisfaction may be just out of reach. I hope your weather has cooled off and is more tolerable today.

That love letter holds a lot of merits. A meaningful existence is all that any of us truly want. Otherwise, what is the point?

Good afternoon
Inflation is rough on everyone, but some fare better than others. We always try to tip 20% when dining out, but then we were shown by another patron that the tip is already included in the bill. It turns out that we were giving $20 to $40 tips if you included both gratuities.
