Absolutely fascinating info and letter! What treasures those letters are. He explains everything so well and one can tell that he really loved it. We still thank him for his service. And you are helping us do so. So thank you, his Mama.

I can understand him finding it the best part of his life. It's the buddies, the constant learning, the knowing you are an important cog! I'm also thankful that he served in between the bloody wars! Loving these posts.

He has often said to me that his years in the service were the best time of his life, but he missed the timing of all the horrible wars. By the time his four years were over, he was ready to come home and renew ties to family and friends.
