Sea Gypsy, my cucumber salad was so good. Everybody loved it. It was perfect on a hot day. It's going to be really hot here today so I'm going to have to find something simple to make for dinner. I hope you do get some crisp cucumbers when you go out. They are so good to eat on a summer day. I hope you have a wonderful day and week. Stay cool.

adnohr, I cook so much at home and I'm always looking for new recipes to share. Roy's vacation seemed to go by in a blink of an eye. Now we are back on schedule for another week. It's been so hot here. I'm looking forward to Fall which is my favorite time of year. I hope you have a good week.

Taps, your collard greens sound so good! I've never made beet greens. Do they taste like beets? I've never had turnip greens but I'd be willing to try them. I love vegetables.

Kabu, it's going to be hot here today! Roy always keeps the freezer stocked with ice cream. He eats it every night. I only eat it once a week. I hope you stay cool. Have a good week!

Pat, going for a ride and stopping at the ice cream stand is something we love to do. I always miss our ice cream stand when it closes for the winter. I eat ice cream once a week so it's a special treat but Roy has ice cream every night. I hope you have a good day. Stay cool!

Sassy, you've given me an idea. I never thought about buying sub rolls and making my own subs. The price of a sub in this area is closing in on $18.00. I'm thinking maybe it would be cheaper to make my own subs. We always have lots of different kinds of cheese in the house. We have all the condiments and if I could find lunch meat on sale I think it would be worth it. Do you heat your rolls? Where do you get your sub rolls? I hope you have a good week. I can't believe it's Monday again!

Tasty. I just looked at cucumbers and almost bought some but I didn't. Now I wish I would have done so. Your food sounds so good. I used to make so many things back when... Now it's a huge accomplishment to make dinner!

I cooked a pot of collard greens. They are so good. A few days ago it was beet greens I was enjoying. I've been trying to find fresh turnip greens. I really love them.

Going for a ride and getting ice cream (or a root beer) was just what
we loved to do on a summer evening, back when the kids were little. No reason to quit a habit that brings contentment. Have a good day.

Good afternoon
I am thankful that you post your lunch and dinner plans. It alwasys gives me ideas for meal planning, and the word yummy is exactly right. I love cold salads in the summer and cucumbers and onions are one of my favorites too. My tomatoes turned red overnight, so tomato sandwiches and BLTs will be on the menu this coming week. I pack John's lunch the night before. He either gets leftovers or I make him sandwiches on his favorite bread or sub rolls. He likes those little pies and chips to go with his lunch. Like Roy, he doesn't leave the house without his thermos of coffee. The steel mill gives the guys bottled water, to which John usually brings one or two home a day, so our fridge is stocked with them.
