I remember the campaign they had back I think in the 90s. Paul Rodriguez said that in his country people dodged bullets to get to the polls.

I agree we vote by post so it is painless. I don't know the ratio of voters and non interested folk there are. It seemes sometimes that the most vocal do not bother to vote.

He was a wise man. I just got my new voting card in the mail yesterday. It listed a new voting place. I will have to be finding where that is. It is not familiar to me.

Not in Canada but in Australia it is compulsory to vote so everyone does who is over the age of 18. It used to be 21 but the argument during the Vietnam War was if you were old enough to fight for your country then you were old enough to vote!

Re: Sherri G
I've noticed many young people, especially those whose high schools have been decimated by shooting incidents, taking to the mic and speaking as citizens, even though they don't yet have the right to vote. But it's not just those who've been on the firing line - others are speaking up, taking part in protests, etc. This is very encouraging to me, and I am hopeful about their participation.

Good Morning
Pat, this is a great post! I have always voted and I've been very proud to do so. I insist that my family vote. I believe there is no excuse good enough to not vote. Our votes count and that's what I tell everyone. There have been many times the person I voted for did not win but that has never discouraged me.

Good morning
You are so on point that I can feel it. I have talked until I am blue in the face to co-workers, friends, and family who fall into the millennium and generation y & x group. They will bitch about how unfair the world is and how much the president sucks, but they can't seem to find their way to the voting station, my three daughters included. It appears that it is up to the baby boomers, which now only make up 28% of the population, and the traditionalists or the G.I. generation to make big changes within our government.
