Re: adnohr

I note some Dahlias are shooting. Do we water them It is so dry.? I have known a frost here on the 1st of June, but the walnut trees tell that it will not be so. Hope Helen is alright.

Re: Ciel

You are too soft-hearted Ciel. Also, do you know if you use beer as a slug trap the stench, will knock one sideways after a week. I saw a little flock of ducks one had a large frog in its beak the ducks were all chasing after the frog duck. The poor frog was making a horrible noise.

Best slug deterrents I know: beer and ducks.

I never actually had ducks, but I've heard Muscovy ducks are great slug-eaters.

A dish of beer distracts them, and sends them happy to slug heaven. I don't drink beer myself, but they seem to like the cheap stuff. I gave mine Fosters.

We haven't started putting in the gardens yet - our last frost should be happening soon then it will be a go. Well - for Karen, seeing she's the only one here who knows what it is all about. I just enjoy the produce. Cute poem - do our requirements change with age?

Re:Pat

Yes, I must be more diligent in future. green stuff along now is quite yummy.

Folk do become more honest as they age, I think, or do they not care a damn?.

Re: Good Evening Goldiec

No, we are plagued with greenfly at the moment it does want a heavy shower to wash it away. I will probably cover my sprouting cabbage with mesh to keep the butterflies away.

Re: Annicita

Well, I have seen them at times with slug pellets in the outer leaves. Wise to always wash well.

Re: Good Morning Sassy

Yes, though we did not think of that when we ate those little dishes of seafood at the local fairs.I suppose a drop of vinegar and Bob's yer Uncle.

Re: Good Morning Sassy

I did not wish to show any lady on here what they might have to endure.

Re: FS

Your Grandad knew how to live off the land. We used to have rabbits until they caught mixi.

I never thought about slugs impacting the ol' garden. Where I'm at, it's rabits. My grandfather would shoot them and eat them.

Somethings never change when it comes to courtship.

Good morning

Courting at any age can be tough. I love your take on the age-old prelude to the love entanglement.

Good morning

Slugs are a real annoyance to a garden. I love leafy garden salads, and they require lettuce, so those slugs have definitely got to go!!

Aw that's too bad. I love lettuce!

Good Evening

C_C_T, I'm so sorry about your lettuce.  Those nasty little critters do cause trouble.  We can't grow cabbage because we can't keep the bugs off of them.

I do enjoy your twist endings. Sorry the slugs beat you to the best bites

of crisp young lettuce.
