Too hot here as well...any outdoor activity is indeed taxing in such hot weather.Take care.

It was like in one country a bonus was paid for killing sparrows as it was thought that they ate the crops, but they were mainly eating the greenfly which ravaged the crops the following years.

They were mostly queen wasps in solitary pursuit of a Winter hide out I suspect. The offspring of course are mad little Bs.

Yes, we have plenty of protection as I used to grow vegetables and bedding plants for sale. I shall have to grow the sunflowers inside as they detract the bees from pollinating the stick beans our favourite and the neighbours.

I found out that wasps are slow in the cold weather. My mom's house in the country had a closed in back porch. Somehow the wasps were getting in. In the winter when it was cold we could easily swat them one after another. In the summertime no!

Too hot for April in England, it was 9- here the other day then dropped like a rock to 50 and Tornado warning sirens were blasting the warnings everywhere. no harm was done and no touch down here.

I admire your pest control method - the fake wasp nest. I do hate to
interfere with nature's creatures, except for roaches and rats, but even those are ok with me as long as they stay out in nature. I used to wonder why some greenhouses were whitewashed - you'd a thunk the why would have occurred to me, it makes such complete sense. Your methods remind me of my mother's way with cultivating the veggies as well as the flowers. She had a green thumb, and also a vast array of aches and pains. I guess that goes with the territory.
