Re: Pat

Yes, I think they mistakenly think that there is a worm or insect beneath. I made the

mistake last year of leaving a couple of trays of begonia seedlings only for ten

minutes, when I came back everything was scattered, a lesson learned.

Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

I admire your fortitude as you say plants would not last long outside. We do try and

harden ours off before placing them in a permanent position sometimes a late frost is

a real nuisance. I have seen potatoes blackened, I think they might recover

sometimes but of course, the crop is depleted.

Re: Good Afternoon Sassy

The trouble is I grow stuff and it gets put in the freezer and forgotten. Not as bad as the old girl who once tried to give me a turkey that had lain in her freezer for twenty years.

Re: sassyass

It is the walk that does it. Most cannot help it.

Re: adnhor

I guess most succumb to charm, present ladies excluded. I have no idea when your weather becomes milder but I think she will have plenty of time. We never put tender veggies out until the end of May unless we cloche them i.e use low tunnels half-round bars covered with plastic.

Re: shamasehar

Indeed there is a good feeling when harvesting one's own produce. Although as my

sister said one cannot see any English vegetables in her supermarket, Well one can if

one looks hard enough but of course, it is only the basic ones that our great

grandparents survived on.

Home grown veggies are so fresh and taste different from the ones we get in markets in cities....they have travelled quite a distance before reaching our tables...🙂

A bit of a scheming fellow is this Colonel? I guess his reasoning is sound enough, wondering if Wolfy's mama will think the same. One of the causes that Karen was reluctant to leave at this time of year was because of the preparations for her gardens. By the time she returns it will be a later start than she was hoping for..

I have never understood men's fixations with a woman's bum, but they appear to all have that same trait.

Good afternoon

I see some salads, strawberry preserves, or shortcakes in your future. Farm-to-table produce is simply the best.

Good Afternoon

I think it's so exciting to plant some vegetables and watch them grow.  Our garlic seems like it's growing by the hour.  We have all kinds of tomatoes and peppers started and they are doing so good.  Your strawberries sound wonderful.  I think I would like to plant strawberries again this year.  We plant them in hanging baskets and put them on the back patio.  It will have to be much warmer before we can hang our baskets.  It's easy for us to watch our vegetables grow because they are all over the house.  They are under grow lights and seem to be quite content.  They are warm and have light and are being watered.  What more could they ask for?  I went outside this morning and it is freezing.  I was shivering by the time I came back inside.

Ah, Wolfy Dunne and the pursuit of happiness.

What fun to read this one.  I had no idea the birds would pull up shallots, but then again I have no idea about a lot of things. Nice to be able at this age to keep discovering new quirks and developments in nature.
