Re: I believe I frightened her when I approached too quickly, Goldiec.

adnohr, I'm not a fan of the extreme summer heat.  If it gets too hot I feel sick. I wouldn't know the first thing about taking care of a Parrot.

Haahaha, Kabu!!

Karen's words exactly! She was a witness to the event, and has told me that, if anything happens to me, she will willingly take care of the beasts, but I need to make other arrangements for the Witchy bird.

I believe I frightened her when I approached too quickly, Goldiec.

Animals and birds can't tell us how they feel except by their actions, therefore her reaction was in self defense, I'm thinking. It's past us now, and I'll remember to move less quickly from now on. It has been raining and snowing here too - and now we're into the April showers period. Personally, I'll still take that over extreme summer heat anyday!

Apparently anyone who has a parrot has been bitten at least once.

I believe she was sorry after. My approach was too quick, and it startled her too, so she reacted, probably was frightened. Yeh - I would have been heartbroken if I had lost her trust, so am quite happy that she was forgiving.

I choose movies, although my son often mentions sitcom series that

I should watch too. It's a rare occasion that I'll binge - just watching all my sports takes up time when I should maybe be doing housework. It seems I am beginning to enjoy that bad habit too much lately.

I've tried wearing gloves when I first adopted her, CCT

but it scares her, so I decided to take my chances. She's never in contact with other birds, so I don't think there is danger of her catching the flue...is there?

I would neveer have gone out an purposely bought a parrot, Pat_B,

this one is a rescue and it just happened. I do enjoy her, but Quakers are known to be tempermental, and I should have remembered that. I agree - there is enough drama in the real world so no need to augment it by choosing our entertainment to show the same!

At least you didn't slap her in the face.....or did you?

All my smiles go to you and a big hug as well. She is more than a bird she is a Witch of a bird and I never expect to get close enough to get blooded. LOL

Good Afternoon

I read this post once early this morning and then came back to read it again.  I have to say you are a much better person than I am.  Once the bird bit me it would be the start of a war.  There'd be no making up after this.  I love how good you are with your animals and you truly understand them but to bite me hard enough to make me bleed would not go well on any day.  I hope you have a good day.  It's very cold here today but the sun just came out.  It's very deceiving though because if someone saw the sun they would think it was warm outside and it is not. When we were running our errands it was snowing.

Animals can be so persnickety. That would have startled me too. Maybe the warbird understood that you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you. Regardless, it is wonderful that the two of you made up.

Good morning

I have recently gotten into the bad habit of binge-watching movies and sitcoms too. Right now I have been watching Bridgerton, Mike & Molly, and Food Network cooking shows from Giada and Ina to Trisha and Molly Yeh. Once the weather warms up and allows for outdoor activities, I will switch to better hobbies like gardening.

We have to be very careful here bird flue is back. One could imagine birds without

masks easily catching it from bird tables. I have only fed a local group this

year.there does seem a scarcity of common birds. Also, no free-range eggs, as hens

of that ilk have to be kept in straw yards. That is not too bad if they are not

overcrowded I have done that myself. I would wear a glove in future.

I like birds when they're outdoors. Various relatives have had

cockatiels or budgies, and I never did warm up to them. Parrots scare me.  But I do enjoy reading about your adventures and the way your mouthy friend entertains you. I also don't watch the painful dramas any more, stick to the light and heartwarming. It seems the real world news has all the pain and sadness I can deal with and then some, so they can keep the war movies.  Thanks for the smiles.
