RePAT

Pat, it is surprising how plants will adapt. I really like to grow salad veg. off the ground and inside if possible there are too many critters running around and we have the bird flue here. Not so bad if it has to be cooked, but you know the score.

Karen could not have been more surprised than me. I hope it is not old stock, I Expect it must come from a site that is being developed no one is allowed to source it from the remaining peat bogs. Some of the substitutes are passable but bits of wood and straw do not inspire confidence.

Re: Ciel

I mix the peat compost with soil for containers Tomatoes and peppers and flowers.

I was surprised to even see peat in compost, so I bought a couple of years' supply.

I don't think I would be very popular expounding the value of peat.

Love the poem, encouraging the thin-lipped silently angry one to let it out!

Gardening With Peat... could be your garden show!

The gardening season is getting ready to be in full swing...That's an intense poem there.

I suspect that I will learn much more about gardening this year. Karen was surprised that you could even get peat, told me how and why it is not available usually. I learn something everyday. For your poem -I think it's healthy to let off steam but am not so sure about getting socked while it's happening?

I have decided I cannot recreate my lovely gardens here but will resort to pots, some annuals perhaps one or two perennials. The rest will remain pebbles, trees and mostly lawn.

There's so much more to farming than a city kid imagines,

all the science and conditions that affect growing things. Amazing.
