Your dad's job with Weyerhauser in Klamath Falls relates to this story. Weyerhauser was the one or one of the major companies who first logged the area in the Cascades - and Salkum was the town that grew up around their milling operation. I believe they moved on around 1919 or so.

Good afternoon
Funny that you should mention the missing fingers. Stepdad #3 was a sawyer at Weyerhauser in Klamath Falls, Oregon who had a missing pinky finger. I guess that must have been a trademark sign of the times.
