Well, you have to remember that because of the distancing, people who become ill who can't work, there are less workers. Supply replenishment is slower and at times there are outages. We are going through that with our company.

Flour is one of the things that is not on the shelves now and then, especially bread flour. And I couldn't find Rice Krispie cereal anywhere just before Christmas, so resorted to making the marshmallow squares with Cheerios instead, and that didn't make the grade at all with the kiddies. Another thing I eat often and can not always find is bean sprouts. But after in a week or two things show up again. We adjust. I give coconut oil at least once a week to the beasts - it's good for them.

Good Morning

Ciel, every year we grow basil and I love it with tomatoes.  Last year we could not find a basil plant in this city.  We finally gave up for the season.  I'm hoping this year to be able to find it.  When we can't find something in the store we've been substituting with something else.  A few weeks ago we bought a tube of tomato paste to store.  When I use it I will put what is left in the fridge.  I like the idea of buying in a tube but so far tomato paste is the only thing we've bought like that.  Our grocery store has been putting limits on the meat we can buy.  It's been going on for a while and every time I see the signs it makes me nervous.  Meat has become so expensive that we are trying to buy things on sale.

Jim has his pantry so well stocked I doubt he will ever run out of some things. He loves cooking. I am tired of it so the new Kitchen will be his.

Re: sassyass,

For me, there are certain flavors that make my taste buds rejoice! Peanut butter is one, coconut milk is another. I like it to be strong, but balanced with the lime and basil in my Thai-type soups, or in a curry where there are other strong flavors. I generally enjoy strong flavors, though I don't like certain aromatic flavors like cilantro or caraway. I suggest trying it in some dishes, starting with a little and finding what is the best level for your taste-bud happiness!

Good afternoon

I am still on the fence where coconut milk is concerned. My fear is that it will overpower the other ingredients. I see Food Network chefs using coconut oil, milk, and spray, and I have always wondered if it would change the taste. Since you use it regularly, what are your thoughts about it?
