Yes, cats tend to do that and it can freak a person out. I've even had dogs staring at nothing, then starting to bark.

Good Morning
Sassy, I've always been allergic to cats so I don't know much about them. I found this post to be very interesting. I had no idea that cats could see spirits. I learn something new every day.

Maybe this is why they were thought to be the companions of witches.
I once had a cat who I was sure could read my mind. She was a gentle soul, but fierce when necessary.
