I didn't know he was such a cat lover. I like cats myself. If I had the time, I would have one as a pet.

Well, the cat I have rarely stays after it has eaten. I suspect it sleeps it off on someone's armchair.

Mary Todd Lincoln was not known as a cheerful individual, and

probably would have been a target of hostility by the media if she'd been first lady within the past two or three administrations. I don't remember my cat hanging around the dinner table, but I do remember her sitting on the window sill each evening watching for me when I came home from work.  Purrrrr.

Sassy, I never knew President Lincoln suffered from depression.  I wonder if the cats helped him.
