it is all so well written and I am hoping when George went to the after life his poor little wife was able to trick him into opening a door in a very lower level.

Sassy, since the crime happened in 1911 and the parties were well into their 20s at the time, I doubt George is still around. The house at 922 Holyoake is still a home to people who may not know its history at this time, but is next door to that of a woman who does research into the history of homes in town, especially those in the Leclaire Historic District. I came across this story when I typed copies of old news articles for the Leclaire website. The old files from the Intelligencer were not digitized, so she made prints from their microfiche for me to transcribe.

Good Afternoon
I can't help but think if George could have only been a decent person their lives could have been so different. There are so many cases just like this in the world. Families are destroyed because of behavior just like George displayed in this story. Thankfully George and Isabel had no children but that is not usually the case. In the past couple of years, there are two cases that I know of in this area that the Fathers killed the whole family. One case was extremely sad because the Mother had asked for a divorce and they had two little girls. The one child had a birthday and the mother thought it would be safe to have the family meet in a restaurant where there would be a lot of people. The Father came to the restaurant and killed the whole family including himself. It was such a tragedy.

Good afternoon
George got his just punishment behind bars and he probably lives a life of hell being dubbed a murderer. That is not a label to easily live down or run from once set in place. As for living in a haunted house, some ghosts actually protect the occupants rather than scare them such as the ones in your story.
