Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

It does seem time to decide what to plant I planted a lot of peppers last year but I

have to put them in the greenhouse and I wondered if it is worth the aggro. Of

course, fuel is expensive now and to heat greenhouses too early is an expensive option.

Re: Good Afternoon Sassy

One has to know the best time it is in one's area. Evidently, you have sussed it out.

We have decided to give sunflowers a miss as they seem to attract the bees and

we need everyone we can to pollinate the beans.

Re: adnohr

Seeds are highly competitive I keep getting catalogues from firms that I bought stuff from ten years ago. I think this is a different Mary.

Re:Pat

The seasons are changing here Pat , Good Friday used to be potato planting day.

We used to be subject to frosts especially  if the moon was full it was called a

radiation frost and would penetrate our plastic tunnels if were very unlucky.

Poor Mary.

Re: anib

Well, it does seem likely, but the old saying used to be ' If May comes early or May comes late it will always make the old cow quake.'

In the Pacific Northwest when we were growing up, Mama planted

the seed potatoes ASAP after St. Patrick's day. Any later and the crop wouldn't grow large enough in time to harvest in October.  Mary was a scamp...

I believe many of the deliveries here for Karen are seed catalogues too. That Mary is quite the scamp!

Good afternoon

A rule of thumb in my area is to plants seeds the first week after Mother's Day when the danger of frost is gone. I have plenty of plans this year that include planting new varieties of flowers that draw in butterflies, birds, and bees like milkweed and sunflowers.

Good Afternoon

C_C_T, I think going through the seed catalogs is a sure sign that spring is on the way.  Timing is everything when it comes to planting season.
