This held my interest and was a surprise to me at the end with the man asking her to coffee. I thought he'd ask her an intriguing question about writing but this was even better!

I like the nice way you placed the young lady into someone who could be recognised.
We'll see, is a kind of postponement of inner conflict. I would imagine.

Good morning
I love this post. I could use a writing class with a teacher like Audra or yourself for that matter. Your stories always keep me engaged. As for the Army guy, he seems sincere in his motives.
