Re: Sassyass
I suppose it is a sad fact but everything seems to move faster after a war. When young one usually has certain moral decisions to make, sometimes they can be very painful. Yes, one does not want to see no future light.

Re Pat
Well I know that once men would beat hedges with sticks at night and catch birds in a net lured by a bright light, I suppose it is not surprising what folk did or do if they are starving

Re: Sea_Gypsy
Thank you. Once pigeons were in butchers shops here, not surprising when baby rooks were shot out of nests, and I once saw a woman skinning squirrels, she was a housekeeper in a kind of former gentry household.

Re: adnohr
We only have a few squirrels, I don't think they are very tough. They do not seem to trouble the pigeons. Funny the past is clearer as one becomes dimmer.

Difficult reffections from the past. Sometimes we don't want to go there, but it springs out at us all on its own. The squirrels chased away the pigeons who were attempting to nest under my roof. The battle was noisy some days before it ended.

Oh, What a great poem! It's fantastic - I truly love it. Well done!
As for pigeons, they are a nuisance here in these parts. i don't care for them at all. Now those special show pigeons can be quite attractive and some pigeons are good message carriers but all in all they aren't my favorite bird at all.

I've never eaten a pigeon. If I had to, I would.

It's hard for me to think of eating a pigeon - don't know why, since
it's clear that a chicken's a bird, too. It's probably true they don't move as fast and pigeons are more likely to escape the hunter's net.

A trip through the past can be a real life changer. It is often wonderful to reflect on how far we have come from those days when we were young, innocent, vulnerable, and ignorant.
