That's really cool how far back he can trace his lineage. A lot of family history there.

Good morning
I have some Scottish roots, but I doubt that there is a king in the family history, but one never knows. Those crowns are fairly heavy and tend to mess up a good hairdo.

Yes, but for the Axe there go I onward to greatness. I suppose we all have preferences I do try and not grow plants that some might be allergic to.
I thought you might grow cat grass.
I keep meaning to grow a patch. Yes, it was a good character.

Re: Taps
One does not see many hollyhocks around once they were in most gardens I think probably they do not make a plant to sell easily in small packs.

Re: The flower poem is simply brilliant! Loving it enough to read over again.

Yes, sadly they seem to get the black fly here so I never grow them. Thank you for commenting

I hope the Royal ancestor of the person kept his head! Dangerous times for many back then. As for flowers, hollyhocks are great! I don't see them much but I do like them.

Good evening
Columbines are a favorite of the Hummingbirds due to being filled with nectar. They are so vibrant and delicate.

Brilliant, I absolutely adore the flower poem. I think I may have visited you blog a time or two over the years but can't be sure anymore. Some of us don't seem to be getting any younger.

I love hollyhocks, esp. if they are in my yard and are pink. Well, there are none in my yard because my yard belongs to the apartment complex and they have a contract for the whole place to mow the lawns, rake leaves, plant flower gardens and anything else that needs doing....so no hollyhocks. But I grew up with them and when my boys were growing u we always had them and I love the memory.

A king of Scotland...? I think we have some royal Stuart on my husband's side of the family. They must have hocked the crown years back.
Personally, I like the columbine. There is a particularly fragrant one called Chocolate Soldier. The flower is green and brown.
I remember that Winnie the Pooh called those other ones "nastershalums." That's what I call them here. I always liked Winnie.
