All major sporting events are about the money. That's the bottom line. It's not right but that's what it has come to.

It is the Australian Open Which along with Wimbleton and the USA Open is a Grand Slam event. Having said that I wouldn't go and watch this player do his tricks across a safe street. He has no right in my humble opinion and it shames me to think my country, which has been so strong on discipline with Covid, but because he will be a big draw card (money) they are caving into him. My family are yet again all locked down. My sister turns 80 next week and there is no way I could visit her yet....this, this, Turd...I better stop.

This story has had so many ups and downs, I am not paying much attention to it. I get that he has a great chance of taking the laurels in this tournament, with other top players not participating for reasons of their own. I have no doubt that's part of what's playing into his determination to be there.

Re: Re: Goldiec

Goldiec, polio was a virus, and I seem to remember it was airborne like the common cold and flu, but I remember it being most dangerous in the summer. It's been 60 years ago,so my memory of the details has faded.

Re: Goldiec

Pat, how did polio spread?  I know it was scary for everyone.

It does seem there is a kind of block in some minds. Everyone should really be careful not to create more victims. Sadly some just blank it out. I know some who do and they are really nice people. Well were.

Goldiec

When the polio vaccine came out I was in high school and everybody I knew feared it, we had no idea where it was - insects had been ruled out, but we didn't know if it was airborne or in the water in the creek that supplied our town, or ...  Several people in our area got sick, one boy died, by best buddy spent some time in an iron lung in the children's hospital in Seattle and ended up with a bad hip and a limp for the rest of his life. Everyone lined up to get the shots - or in the case of us kids, we got the medicine in a dropper on top of a sugar cube. I don't remember anyone refusing the shots - we were all desperate for the cure.

Good Morning

Pat, I must have missed this segment on our news.  Then again maybe I'm not listening close enough.  I think Australia is strict with its COVID rules.  There will always be people that don't want the vaccines.  It doesn't make sense to me but for some reason, that is the way they feel.  A lot of people in Cleveland have had to leave their jobs because they are refusing to be protected.  I wonder if this was the way it was back when the polio vaccine came out?

I would imagine you are right in that no one will be influenced by your opinion as everyone seems only interested in their own opinion.  I can't even influence people that I know and love.
