It is ever the part of modern folk to either deride out-dated Truths, or cling to them as the Source of All Goodness.
At one end of the spectrum is inarguable Truth, the other, utterest Folly and which is at which end depends on the position of the observer. Meanwhile, practical usefulness is in balance which is not afraid to challenge both the old and new: To delve into ancient beliefs that shaped the Truths of their time, and challenge new notions which are offered to replace them.

I suppose such things moved slowly in those times. Perhaps the great mass of folk wanted to read something ( if they could read) that they could assimilate easily.
Thank you for this how emotions were raised and probably enemies created.
