Re: Good morning Look for this error on a common date coin.

I just posted the other side of that error coin with the story of the coin and my ownership of it.

A very common date that has an error is the 1935 Buffalo five-cent piece with a double-die reverse, Most people do not even know it exists, but I have found a lot of nice circulated pieces that go for a LOT of money, even the lower grades.

Here is a nice photo of the coin. Look specifically at the *E* in the word FIVE, and you can see the bottom of the *E* is clearly doubled. The high rim on these coins protects that letter, so finding lower grades (meaning heavily circulated coins) is possible. I used to find five to ten of them a year. Back then, I could buy circulated Buffalo's for 35 cents each, and we sold them to kids for 60 cents. I just looked, and it says that an average circulated 1935 double die reverse is worth $100 to $500, depending on how nice it looks.

NEVER CLEAN YOUR COINS! It ruins them!

Good morning

Very cool. My hubby has quite a few of them that he has collected over the years.
