I'm worried about the mental health of kids with all this yo-yoing. I sure hope things settle down.

Re:
C_C_T, I love early appointments so I don't have to worry about it. I think everything is different for the kids now.

Re:
adnohr, the world worries me right now. I never in my life thought I would see anything like what we are all living through. When I was in school we would read about world events and I read about the Great Depression but I never lived through it. It sounded very scary and now we are living through a very scary time in history. When I was at the hospital yesterday to have one of my routine tests it truly looked like a ghost town. There was not one person in the waiting room and they took me in right away and I was back outside within about twenty minutes. Life is so different now. I'm not sure why people are so afraid of the vaccine.

I expect the kids looked forward to holidays once but it is not the same these days.
Early appointments save worrying about it all day.

Because most of the people sick enough to be in the hospitals here are the unvaccinated, our Federal government is considering making the vaccine mandatory. The health system can't support anymore. Regular patients with cancer and other illnesses are suffering because of the beds all being taken by Covid victims. It has to end, and that would be a start to ending it.

Re: Good afternoon
Sassy, years from now when we are all reading books about what happened during the pandemic we will know if the author doesn't get it exactly right because we've lived through this nightmare. One thing is for sure the things we've seen and lived through have to be true because we couldn't make this stuff up. It's too crazy. Your potato soup sounds delicious! Stay warm! It is so cold here!

Re: Conditions - weather & covid - are very similar here to the ones you
Pat, it really is too cold for the kids to be outside when it's this cold. I hope you are staying toasty warm during this cold spell. If I feel a chill I go and sit near the fireplace. It's the warmest spot in the house. I hope you have a good night.

Good afternoon
You're so right, structure is really important for these kids. Our grandkids have somehow managed to keep their grades up despite the disruptions. I would hate to be a kid in school through the pandemic. It will be something that they can one day tell their grandkids about. As for the snow, it looks like it catapulted to Pittsburgh. Although it was pretty mild. It is seriously cold outside, but bearable since there is no wind. I went to the store earlier to get a few things for tomorrow's dinner. I am planning on making a crockpot full of potato soup. It will be just perfect for a chilly day.

Conditions - weather & covid - are very similar here to the ones you
describe. Schools are partially virtual (6th-12th) but it's too cold for the little ones to be out on the playground during the day - although they were dropped off as usual at 7:30 this morning. Hospitals here have called a halt to elective surgeries. Seems like this Covid has become a never-ending story.
