An ounce of prevention...

FSI - after the ice storm in '98, when some of us were 3 weeks without

power, I do believe that everyone on this area stocked up on generators and wood stoves. A lesson learned!

Yeh - my kids are pretty good at taking care of their mom.

Thanks for the wishes for Bird!

Darn - there was lots of generator noise echoing in the bush

And my mouthy parrot . I'm sure Bird would appreciate your birthday greetings, so Cheers!

I still miss him - especially on days like today. But normal, of course.

Yes - they usually don't warn us, but I think the last storm damaged some essential equipment because lately it has been on and off often.

It came back earlier than they expected, so all good!

And I was up earlier too so my cup of coffee was fresh hot, not just slightly hot from the thermos. Happy day.

A generator is a great backup to have. They're pretty popular during winter where wintry weather can occur and cause havoc.

Good morning

That was nice of Rugrat's daddy to load you up with plenty of wood. Soup simmering on a woodstove sounds cozy to me. A day without power allows for one to rest quietly, reflect, read, and just enjoy the sights and sounds that are not caught when one is too busy. Happy birthday to Bird. Cheers!

No-power you are so ready for--it will be so quiet for a while in your house! The only sounds will be the life in the house quietly breathing, maybe less quietly expressing itself... Here's to the hope that the quiet will last just as long as you want it to!

Waving a Hello! to Bird... Happy Birthday! I have no doubt he will be there with you!

Nice to have advance warning so you can be ready for the down time.

Happy birthday to Bird in heaven. Be safe today.

Good Morning

Oh, how I love this post!  I think you've thought of everything for when the power goes out.  You are so much like me.  We live in the Northeast and we always have to be prepared for the unexpected.  We usually go to the bank on Friday but because of the weather, we are going to go today.  I think it's always better to be safe than sorry.  You really are right and soup is very easy to heat if you don't have power.  I have to say as long as I have my morning coffee I'm happy.  Stay warm!
